Malena Grisel Alterio Bacaicoa (born 21 January 1974) is an Argentine-born Spanish actress. She became a television icon in Spain for her performance in sitcomAquí no hay quien viva, playing the role of Belén López Vázquez.[1] She is the recipient of numerous awards, such as theGoya Award for Best Actress forSomething Is About to Happen (2023).
Malena Alterio was born on 21 January 1974 inBuenos Aires, Argentina toHéctor Alterio and Ángela Bacaicoa, who moved toMadrid, Spain when Malena was a toddler.[2] Her older brotherErnesto is also an actor.[2] She received training atCristina Rota's acting school.[3][2]
She made her feature film debut inThe Hold-Up (2001), earning a nomination to theGoya Award for Best New Actress.[4]
