Moore grew up inSacramento, California and attendedC. K. McClatchy High School.[1] As a junior, he hit for a .535 average with 38 hits, 55 RBIs and seven home runs and was named the California Gatorade Player of the Year.[2] Moore was also Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior, after batting .500 with 15 doubles and 13 home runs.[3][4] Moore committed to playcollege baseball atStanford.[5] Moore was considered a top-100 prospect for the 2022 Major League Baseball draft but was not selected.[6] He playedsummer collegiate baseball after graduating high school for theBellingham Bells of theWest Coast League, where he batted .400 with 20 hits and 12 RBIs in 13 games played.[7]
Moore began his freshman season at Stanford as the Cardinal's starting catcher.[8][9] In Stanford's season-opening series against Cal State Fullerton, he went 5-for-15 with three home runs and five RBIs over three games.[10] He hit .311 with 15 home runs and 63 RBIs over 64 games for the season, and was named thePac-12 Conference Freshman of the Year.[11][12] As a sophomore in 2024, he batted .255 with 16 home runs and 36 RBIs.[13]
