Major James Brooks Jones (born July 9, 1953) is an American retired professionalbasketball player who played in theNBA and other leagues. Born inMcGehee, Arkansas, he playedcollege basketball for theAlbany State Golden Rams.
He was drafted by theAmerican Basketball Association (ABA) in 1974 by theSan Diego Conquistadors, and in1976 by theNational Basketball Association'sPortland Trail Blazers. Jones played for theAllentown Jets of theEastern Basketball Association from 1976 to 1978.[1] He was selected as theEBA Rookie of the Year in 1977 and named to the All-EBA Second Team in 1977 and 1978.[1]
Jones' brothersWil (born 1947),Caldwell (born 1950) andCharles (born 1957) all played at Albany State and in the NBA.
