RabbiMaimon ben Joseph HaDayan (born c.1110) was a Spanishexegete,moralist anddayyan (Hebrew for "judge"). He is best known as the father ofMaimonides. His teacher was the respected scholarJoseph ibn Migash. He authored a commentary, inArabic, on thePentateuch, and also wrote onJewish ritual andfestival law.[1][2]
