Mahesh Limaye is an Indiancinematographer -director known for his work inHindi andMarathi cinema. Some of his work includeTraffic Signal,Corporate,Fashion,Heroine,Dabaang,Uttarayan,Natarang,Balgandharva,Rege andMulshi Pattern.[1]

Early life and education

Mahesh was born inDombivli, Maharashtra. Right from his young days he always had an inclination towards arts. He got intoSir J J School of arts and completed his graduation in commercial arts with specialization in photography.[2][3] His love for music videos made him take keen interest in cinematography.[4]

Career

Post his graduation from Sir J J School of Arts, Mahesh assisted Raja Sayed, a well known cinematographer. He also got a chance to assist a lot of foreign cinematographers in their advertisement projects.[5]

Mahesh shot his first film as an independent cinematographer with director Marlon Rodrigues in 2005 named CU at 9. Bipin Nadkarni, an advertisement director chose Mahesh to shoot his directorial debutUttarayan. He shot Bipin's second filmAevdhese Aabhal as well. He had a long partnership withMadhur Bhandarkar with films likeTraffic Signal,Corporate,Fashion andHeroine. He shot 3 films forRavi Jadhav namelyNatarang,Balgandharva[6] andBalak Palak. Mahesh rose to fame when he shotDabaang withSalman Khan. Mahesh shot some portions ofDabangg 2 and collaborated withPrabhudeva forDabaangg 3. Mahesh shot Marathi features likeRege,Family Katta,Mulshi Pattern.  He collaborated with Punit Malhotra for Gori Tere Pyaar Mein produced by Dharma Productions.The other films that he has shot includeFreaky Ali,Happy Ending,Bhikari,Shentimental.

In 2014, Mahesh debuted as a director with the Marathi feature filmYellow.[7][8] At the61st National Film Awards, the film won theSpecial Jury Award for feature films and twoSpecial Mention awards for the child actors.[9] He also directed two video shorts namelyPunaragamanayacha[10] andAashechi Roshnai.[citation needed]

He has recently worked on the Marathi feature filmSarsenapati Hambirrao Mohite.[11]

Mahesh is currently working on his second directorial namedJaggu ani Juliet.[12] The film is produced by Punit Balan and the duoAjay-Atul are doing the music for the film.
