The 12907 / 12908Maharashtra Sampark Kranti Express is aSampark Kranti Superfast Express train that operates betweenBandra Terminus in Mumbai andHazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi, India. It is the fastest non premium train of Indian Railways with average speeds competing with many Rajdhani trains.
This train was introduced as one of theSampark Kranti trains announced by the then-Railway MinisterNitish Kumar in the 2004/2005 rail budget. It originally departed fromBandra Terminus and, after a stop atBorivali, ran non-stop toHazrat Nizamuddin, except for operational halts. Due to low ridership, the operational stops were changed to commercial stops. It now also halts atVadodara Junction ,Ratlam Junction andKota Junction for crew changes. It formerly usedICF coach cars, but has usedLHB rakes cars since 15 January 2017.
The train uses standardLHB rakes cars and has a maximum speed of 130 km/h. The train consists of 22 coaches:
As theWestern Railway has switched to AC traction,Vadodara Junction is now an operational halt. It is hauled end-to-end by anVadodara-basedWAP-7 (HOG) equipped locomotive.
