Mafry Balang (born on 26 March 1984[2] inSipitang,Sabah) is aMalaysian footballer who plays forSabah inMalaysia Premier League. He plays mainly as acentre back, although he can operate occasionally as adefensive midfielder.[3]

Mafry spent most of his career withSabah for five years. Nicknamed 'Iron Man' by Sabahawk fan supporter due to his tough-tackler, Mafry is a versatile player who can play anywhere on defence, including a more defensive minded midfield role.

Sabah

Mafry helpedSabah qualify to the2010 Malaysia Super League under ManagerGary Phillips. He can plays in various position as defender, centre back and defensive midfielder. The Sabahawks fans called him "Iron Man". He is also co-captain for the Sabah.[4]

After the meetings held by Sabah FA management, they made the final decision to release Mafry Balang with 13 other players for the 2013 Malaysian league.[5][6]

Kelantan

Mafry joinedKelantan as a loan player for2012 Malaysia Cup campaign withAfiq Azmi andMohd Aslam Haja Najmudeen. They had helped Kelantan grab the2012 Malaysia Cup throphy for the second times.[7][8]

Sarawak

For the2013 Malaysia Premier League, he had joinedSarawak and won the league.

Penang

[edit]

After spending two seasons with Sarawak, Mafry joined Penang for the 2015 season. As of 8 June 2017, he was appointed as the captain forPenang team.
