Dialect of Tamil
Madurai Tamil (மதுரை தமிழ்), known asMadurai Bashai , is thedialect ofTamil spoken in the region ofMadurai and over a vast geographical area of SouthTamil Nadu , the area once ruled by thePandiya kings. It differs substantially fromNellai Tamil , a region which was also part of the Pandiya domain.[ 1] [ 2]
