Ma Zhancang (simplified Chinese:马占仓;traditional Chinese:馬占倉;pinyin:Mǎ Zhàncāng;Wade–Giles:Ma Chan-ts'ang,Xiao'erjing:ﻣَﺎ جً ﺿْﺎ; ? - 1937) was aHui Chinese Muslim general of theNew 36th Division of theNational Revolutionary Army. He served under the generalsMa Zhongying andMa Hushan. At theBattle of Kashgar (1933), he repulsed an attack byUyghurs led by the Syrian ArabTawfiq Bay, wounding Tawfiq.[1] He fought and defeated the Uyghur andKyrgyz rebels of theFirst East Turkestan Republic at the Battle of Kashgar, theBattle of Yarkand and theBattle of Yangi Hissar in 1934.[2][3][4] He killed the Uyghur leadersTimur Beg,Abdullah Bughra andNur Ahmad Jan Bughra.[5]
