Ma'bad ibn Kalid al-Juhanī (Arabic:معبد الجهني; died 80 AH/ 699CE[1]), was from the tribe ofJuhaynah which lived and still live in around the city ofMedinah in Arabia. He wasQadari, an idea he got fromSinbuya, and was declared as misguided by some of thecompanions of theIslamic prophetMuhammad, such asAbd Allah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab.[2][3] He wascrucified by the orders of the CaliphAbd al-Malik inDamascus. According to a couple ofsahihhadith, "The first person to speak aboutAl-Qadar" (the doctrine of predestination) or at least the first person inBasra to speak about it, was "Ma'bad Al-Juhani."[nb 1] His ideas were later followed by Abū Marwān Gaylān ibn Mūslīm ad-Dimashqī an-Nabati al-Qībtī.[citation needed]
