TheMM-14, also sometimes referred to as "Poroh-1" (Ukrainian:Порог-1,lit. 'Threshold-1'),[1] is a digitalcamouflage pattern that has been in use by theArmed Forces of Ukraine since 2014.
MM-14 was first seen in use byUkrainian special forces andair assault units in 2014,[1] but has since been adopted widely throughout the Ukrainian military.[1]
Early batches of MM-14uniforms produced by European military equipment manufacturer NFM Group were found to be highlyflammable.[1] Along with this problem, the pattern also had a tendency to fade when exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. This led to the Ukrainian military choosingKyiv-based tactical clothing company PROF1 Group to manufacture the redesigned uniforms, with a different material used in production.[1] The camouflage was presented to the public in August 2014 at Odessa.[2] In December 2014, fabric and equipment samples in the pattern were presented to Ukrainian officials.[3]
On July 15, 2015, theUkrainian Ministry of Defense officially approved MM-14 camouflage for standard issue to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.[1][4] It replaced allDubok uniforms in use.[1]
MM-14 camouflage consists of a five-tonedigital pattern of lightbeige, lightgreen, swamp green, gray green, and dark gray.[1] This particular color scheme and pattern was designed specifically to work well in theDonetsk andKhersonregions of Ukraine.[5] Some more recent versions of MM-14 incorporate greenish swatches to better accommodatewoodland environments.[1][5]
TheState Border Guard Service of Ukraine uses a version of the MM-14 with dark green camo patterns.[1]
