TheM63 (nicknamed "Staaldak" inAfrikaans) is acombat helmet ofSouth African origin.[1][2][3] Based on the FrenchModèle 1951 helmet, the M63 replaced the British typeBrodie helmets during the early 1960s, and saw extensive use during theRhodesian andAngolan bush wars. It was issued until the 1980s when it was replaced by theM87 kevlar helmet.
