TheM'era Luna is agothic festival that encompasses a number of different styles such asmetal,future pop,aggrotech,synthpop,gothic rock,dark wave, andEBM. It is held annually on the second weekend of every August, inHildesheim,Germany atFlugplatz Hildesheim-Drispenstedt,[1] a formerBritish Army airbase.

M'era Luna includes camping facilities and has two stages: a large rock festival-style structure, erected for the show each year, and a formeraircraft hangar.

With its 20,000–25,000 regular attendants (21,000 in 2005, 23,000 in 2009, 24,000 in 2010)[2] (many flying in via theHanoverairport, with others traveling viaroad andrailway), the M'era Luna is one of the biggest dark music events in Germany.

The festival's logo is based on the image of the moon from the 1902 filmA Trip to the Moon by the French directorGeorges Méliès. An altered version of the logo was introduced for the 2019 festival.
