Thelumbar branch of the iliolumbar artery (ramus lumbalis) supplies thepsoas major andquadratus lumborum, anastomoses with the lastlumbar artery, and sends a small spinal branch through theintervertebral foramen between the lastlumbar vertebra and thesacrum, into the vertebral canal to supply thecauda equina.
