Lucius Manlius Acidinus Fulvianus (fl. early 2nd century BC) was anancient Romannobilis, originally born toQuintus Fulvius Flaccus, who had been consul four times,[1] but was adopted into theManlia gens, probably byLucius Manlius Acidinus.[2]
Fulvianus waspraetor in 188 BC, and had the province ofHispania Citerior allotted to him, where he remained until 186 BC. In the latter year he defeated theCeltiberi, and had it not been for the arrival of his successor would have reduced the whole people to subjection. He applied for atriumph in consequence, but obtained only anovation.[3] In 183 BC he was one of the ambassadors sent intoGallia Transalpina, and was also appointed one of thetriumvirs for founding the Latin colony ofAquileia, which was however not founded until 181 BC.[4]
He wasconsul in 179 BC,[5] with his brother by birth,Quintus Fulvius Flaccus, which is the only instance of two brothers holding the consulship at the same time during the Republic.[2][6] At the election of Acidinus, M. Scipio declared him to bevirum bonum, egregiumque civem.[7]
