Lourmel Airfield is an abandoned military airfield inAlgeria, located in theEl Amria area.
DuringWorld War II it was a civil airport seized by theUnited States Army during theOperation Torch landings in November 1942. After its capture from theVichy French, it was used by theUnited States Army Air ForceTwelfth Air Force61st Troop Carrier Group during theNorth African Campaign.
The 61st flewC-47 Skytrain transports from the airfield from 15 May-21 June 1943.
