TheLouisiana Museum of Natural History is the state's museum ofnatural history located on the campus ofLouisiana State University inBaton Rouge. It houses theLSU Museum of Natural Science (the former Museum ofZoology, hence the collection codeLSUMZ), theLSUHerbarium, theLouisiana State Arthropod Museum which contains approximately 1.2 million specimens[1] of insects and relatedarthropods, and theTextile and Costume Museum.
One exhibit area is the Textile and Costume Museum, and the other is the Museum of Natural Science. TheNatural Science branch also hasmineralogy,petrology, andpalynology collections, as well as theLouisiana Geological Survey data repositories.[2]
