Louis George P. Appéré[2] (born 26 March 1999) is a Scottishfootballer who plays as aforward forEFL League Two clubCambridge United. He made his senior debut in August 2017.
Louis Appéré was born inPerth on 26 March 1999.[3] He grew up inCupar, Fife, where he attendedBell Baxter High School.[4] He started playing football for East Fife Junior Supporters' Club at the age of 9 and later spent two years as a youth player withDunfermline Athletic.[3] He then joined Cupar-based AM Soccer, progressing through from the youth system.[4]
Appéré began the 2015–16 season playing youth football, before progressing to AM Soccer's adult amateur team as well as appearing as a trialist forRaith Rovers' under-20 development team.[4] In May 2016 he went to Italy for a trial withA.S. Roma after AM Soccer ownerAustin MacPhee brought a YouTube video of the player to Roma's attention.[4] In July 2016, Appéré signed forScottish Championship clubDundee United, whose managerRay McKinnon had previously had him on trial at Raith.[5]
Appéré made his first team debut for Dundee United as a substitute in aScottish Challenge Cup tie againstCowdenbeath on 15 August 2017.[2][6] He signed a new two-year contract with the club in May 2018.[7]
In January 2019, Appéré joinedScottish Junior Football East Region Super League clubBroughty Athletic on loan until the end of the 2018–19 season.[8] After scoring 22 goals in 20 appearances for Broughty, he returned to Dundee United and was able to break into the first team squad on a regular basis.[9]
He scored his first goal for Dundee United on 19 July 2019 in aScottish League Cup tie againstCowdenbeath.[10] His first league goal came on 30 August 2019, the second goal in a 6–2 victory in theDundee derby againstDundee.[11] On 17 October 2019, the club announced that Appéré had extended his contract with Dundee United until the summer of 2022.[12] He went on to score 6 goals in 33 appearances during the2019-20 season as Dundee United won theChampionship title.[13]
Following United's promotion to theScottish Premiership, Appéré initially struggled for playing time. He scored his first top-flight goal againstSt Johnstone on 12 January 2021, and also assistedLawrence Shankland to score from 53 yards in the same match.[14]
On 31 January 2022, Appéré joinedEFL League Two clubNorthampton Town for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal.[15]
Following the conclusion of the2023–24 season, he was offered a new contract which he subsequently rejected.[16][17]
On 24 May 2024, Appéré agreed to joinLeague One sideStevenage upon the expiration of his Northampton Town contract.[18]
Appéré joined League Two clubCambridge United in July 2025 on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.[19] He made his debut in the opening game of the2025-26 season, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at home toCheltenham Town.[20]
Appéré was born in Scotland and is of French descent, and holds both passports.[21] He received his first call-up to theScotland under-21 team for scheduled fixtures in March 2020 againstCroatia andGreece, only for the matches to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[22][13]
