Lorenzo James Fluxá Cross (Spanish pronunciation:[loˈɾensoˈxamesfluˈksaˈkros]; born 23 November 2004), otherwise known asLorenzo Fluxá Jr., is a Spanish and Britishracing driver who competes in theEuropean Le Mans Series forAlgarve Pro Racing.

Fluxá previously drove forCool Racing in the2024 European Le Mans Series.

Early career

Karting

Having won the Balearic Karting Championship in 2016, Fluxá moved into the national championship as well as international competitions during the same year.[1] Following a full season spent driving in the Mini and Cadet categories, where he managed to finish fourth overall in his homeland, the Spaniard would move intoOK Junior in 2018, competing in theEuropean Championship for Lennox and qualifying for the final in theWorld Championship.[2] He ended his karting career in 2019, having competed in theOK Senior class - missing several events due to an injury.[3]

Lower formulae

Fluxá made his car racing debut in theFormula 4 UAE Championship in 2020 with Xcel Motorsport.[4] He won two races and finished on the podium eleven times throughout the campaign, being beaten only by teammateFrancesco Pizzi, who won the title with 300 points to Fluxá's 274.

That year, Fluxá also competed in theF4 Spanish Championship with GRS.[5] The Spaniard achieved sixth place in the drivers' standings, helping his team to finish fourth in the teams' championship with 99 points compared to the total of 26 scored by his three teammates.

F3 Asian Championship

The Spanish driver raced in the2021 F3 Asian Championship forBlackArts Racing.[6] He scored 25 points and finished 14th in the standings, three positions ahead of teammateRafael Villagómez, but also five places behind his other full-time teammateCem Bölükbaşı.

Formula Regional European Championship

In February 2021, it was announced that Fluxá would be making his debut in theFormula Regional European Championship withVan Amersfoort Racing, partnering F4 UAE title rivalFrancesco Pizzi andMari Boya.[7] His best race finish would end up being a twelfth place at a rain-affected race inBelgium, as the Spaniard finished 25th in the championship, being the only Van Amersfoort driver to not score any points.

2022

At the beginning of 2022, Fluxá took part in the newly rebrandedFormula Regional Asian Championship, driving for 3Y byR-ace GP.[8][9] Having scored a podium during the first round, Fluxá finished tenth in the championship.

For his main campaign, Fluxá would move toR-ace GP, remaining in theFormula Regional European series.[10][11] His season started in strong fashion, as he took his first podium in the series at the season opening race atMonza.[12] However, following a late coming-together with teammateGabriel Bortoleto in Race 2,[13] the Spaniard would have to wait for two rounds until scoring his next points, a pair of eighth-place finishes atLe Castellet.[14] More points followed atSpa-Francorchamps, where Fluxá managed to finish fifth,[15] before getting two points at the events inAustria andSpain respectively. He finished his season with another fifth place, this time atMugello, which meant that Fluxá ended up twelfth in the standings, behind his teammatesHadrien David and Bortoleto.[16]

2023

At the beginning of 2023, Fluxá took part in theFormula Regional Middle East Championship withMumbai Falcons, garnering three podiums and finishing fourth in the drivers' standings.[17][18]

The Spaniard opted to remain in FRECA for a third successive season in2023, switching toPrema Racing to partnerAndrea Kimi Antonelli andRafael Câmara.[19] Having taken fourth-place results in the opening pair of rounds, Fluxá would score his best result in his three years in the category at theHungaroring, ending up second in race 2.[20] More points atSpa andMugello followed, before Fluxá experienced a scoreless round inLe Castellet.

FIA Formula 3 Championship

In late September 2022, Fluxá partook in theFIA Formula 3 post-season test withVan Amersfoort Racing during the second and third days.[21][22]

Euroformula Open

Alongside his ELMS commitments, Fluxá competed part-time in the2024 Euroformula Open withTeam Motopark in 2024.[23]

Endurance racing career

For 2024, Fluxá pivoted toendurance racing, racing in theEuropean Le Mans Series withCool Racing.[24] PartneringMalthe Jakobsen andRitomo Miyata in theLMP2 class, the Spaniard would help his team win the season opener atBarcelona, where he took the lead during the opening hour.[25]

Personal life

Fluxá comes from a wealthy family which founded and owns notable Spanish companiesIberostar,Lottusse [es] andCamper.[26][27] His younger brother Lucas competes inSpanish F4, and his younger sister Luna currently competes in karting.[28] Luna has been a part of theMercedes Junior Team since 2022.
