Lorenzo Calonga Arce (28 August 1929 – 20 September 2003) was a Paraguayanfootballstriker andmidfielder who was part of theParaguay squad for the1950 FIFA World Cup finals.[3]
Calonga began playing football inParaguay withCerro Porteño,Club Olimpia andClub Guaraní, where he won the 1949Paraguayan Primera División title.[4] He moved to Colombia where he played forDeportivo Pereira andIndependiente Medellín. He finished his playing career inMexico withClub León andClub Irapuato.[5][6]
Calonga scored a goal for the Paraguay national team in a friendly against Brazil on 13 May 1950.[7]
After he retired from playing, Calonga returned to Colombia to work as a coach.[8] He managedDeportes Quindío during the 1961 season.
Lorenzo Calonga is from a Paraguayan family of famous athletes, includingManuel Calonga who played football and basketball for Club Guaraní.[9]
Calonga died frompneumonia inArauca, at the age of 77.[8]
