TheLord-Lieutenant of Greater London is the personal representative of themonarch, currentlyKing Charles III, inGreater London.[1]
EachLord-Lieutenant is assisted in largelyceremonial duties byDeputy Lieutenants whom he appoints.[2] The Lieutenancy Office is based atWhitehall,London SW1.
TheLord-Lieutenant is also assisted by aLord-Lieutenant's Cadet, one from each branch of the main cadet forces,Army Cadet Force,Air Training Corps andSea Cadet Corps. The cadet is selected by theLord-Lieutenant. TheLord-Lieutenant's Cadets are from the county of theLord-Lieutenant.
Created under theAdministration of Justice Act (1964), this office merged those ofLord-Lieutenant of the County of London (cr. 1889) and the ancientLord-Lieutenancy of Middlesex.[3] Theceremonial county ofGreater London does not include theCity of London, which has its ownCommission of Lieutenancy.
