London Spirit are a franchise100-ball cricket side based in NorthLondon. The team represents thehistoric counties ofMiddlesex,Essex andNorthamptonshire inThe Hundred,[1] which took place for the first time during the 2021 English and Welsh cricket season. Both the men's and women's sides play their home games atLord's.
In May 2019, it was revealed that the Hundred franchise based at Lord's would be known as the London Spirit. In August 2019 the side announced that former Australian spinnerShane Warne would be the men's team's first coach, while formerAustralia Women coachLisa Keightley was appointed coach of the Women's team.[2] By September 2019, it was known that the franchise would representMiddlesex,Essex andNorthamptonshire.[3]
The inaugural Hundred draft took place in October 2019 and saw the Spirit claimRory Burns as their headline men's draftee, andHeather Knight as the women's headliner. They are joined by England One-Day captainEoin Morgan andEssex'sDan Lawrence for the men's team, whileFreya Davies joins Knight in the women's side.[4]
As part of the2025 Hundred sale, the ECB gave Marylebone Cricket Club a 51% stake in the franchise with the remaining 49% sold in an auction process. Cricket Investor Holdings Limited (known as Tech Titans) purchased 49% of the franchise with Marylebone Cricket Club retaining their stake. They took operational control on 1 October 2025.[5][6]
The Hundred
The Hundred

Both the London Spirit men's and women's sides play at the home of Cricket,Lord's, in theSt. John's Wood area of London. The women's side had been due to play at the home ofEssex County Cricket Club, theCounty Ground inChelmsford, and the home ofNorthamptonshire, theCounty Ground inNorthampton but both teams were brought together at the same ground as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
