Lombardy East is a residential suburb of easternJohannesburg,South Africa. It is located in Region E of theCity of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.
Originally called theLombardy Estate, it is named afterLombardy inItaly, a very fertile and productive region of Italy that the landowner M. A. Zoccola wanted to emulate.[2] Zoccola purchased the land in 1893 and consisted of 262 ha.[3]: 173
