Lola Petticrew (born 26 December 1995) is a Northern Irish actor. Their films includeA Bump Along the Way (2019),Dating Amber (2020), andTuesday (2023). On television, Petticrew is known for their roles inBloodlands (2021–2022) andThree Families (2021) onBBC One, and theFX seriesSay Nothing (2024). For the latter, Petticrew won anIFTA and received aBritish Academy Television Award nomination.

Early life and education

Petticrew was born on 26 December 1995.[1] They are from westBelfast and grew up on a council estate,[2] the eldestsibling to two sisters and a brother. Both their parents are healthcare workers.[3]

Petticrew attendedSt Dominic's Grammar School for Girls,[4] and joined a local drama group when they were 12.[5]

Petticrew went on to train at theRoyal Welsh College of Music & Drama, graduating in 2017 with aBachelor of Arts in Acting.[6][7][8]

Career

Petticrew made their feature film debut as Allegra in the 2019 comedy-drama filmA Bump Along the Way, which earned them a New Talent Award at theGalway Film Fleadh. They had more film roles in 2020, starring as the titular character inDating Amber oppositeFionn O'Shea,[9] and playing Jessica and Alex inHere Are the Young Men andShadows respectively. In addition, they appeared as Lucy in theBBC Three miniseriesMy Left Nut.

In February 2021, Petticrew began starring as Izzy Brannick in theBBC Onepolice proceduralBloodlands. Originally a limited series, it was renewed in March. That May, they played Orla Healy in the two-part dramaThree Families, also on BBC One,[10] followed byJane Seymour in the three-parterAnne Boleyn onChannel 5 in June. They also appeared inWolf andTuesday.[11]

Petticrew portrayedDolours Price in the 2024FX on Hulu series. The series won aPeabody Award.[12][13]

Personal life

Petticrew isqueer andnon-binary. They usethey/thempronouns.[14][15][3] They identify as anatheist.[16]
