Logaršče (pronounced[ˈloːɡaɾʃtʃɛ]; in older sources alsoLogaršče Rakovec[2]) is adispersed settlement in the hills south of theBača Valley in theMunicipality of Tolmin in theLittoral region ofSlovenia.[3]
Logaršče was attested in historical sources asLogaisca in 1351,Lagossca in 1377, andLogoschia in 1419, among other spellings. The nameLogaršče is either asyncopation of*Logarišče, a collective noun derived fromlogar 'forest owner', referring to the local environment and related to place names such asLogarji andLogarše (a hamlet ofPraprotno Brdo), or is derived from *Logišče with an epentheticr.[4][5]
The local church is dedicated toSaint Lucy and belongs to theParish ofPodmelec.[6]
