Llanfor is a village inGwynedd ,Wales near the town ofBala , in thecommunity ofLlandderfel .
There is evidence of anIron Age Hill Fort in the immediate area andRoman Castrum .
In the 6th century an unknownMonk from Llanfor was reputedly responsible for convertingLlywarch Hen ,[ 1] prince ofRheged , toChristianity . It was also the site of achurch built bySaint Tyneio , the 6th centuryPatron Saint of the village.
There is a legend that the Devil used to frequently visit Llanfor Church in the shape of a pig.[ 2]
