Liu Yi (simplified Chinese:刘毅;traditional Chinese:劉毅;pinyin:Liú Yì; born 7 July 2003) is a Chinesebadminton player.[1] He won the silver medal at the2025 BWF World Championships and2025 Asian Championships partnered withChen Boyang.[2][3] He was part of China winning team in the2024 Asia Team Championships. Liu captured his first senior title at the 2022Vietnam International Series with Chen.
Liu won his first senior international title at theVietnam International Series withChen Boyang. A week later, Liu won his second consecutive title at theMalaysia International Series tournament.[4]
In March 2023, Liu and Chen won their first BWF Tour 100 title at the2023 Ruichang China Masters,[5] and won their firstBWF World Tour title at the2023 Orléans Masters.[6]
In 2024, Liu and Chen became the runner-up in theThailand Open.[7] Together with his temporary partnerChen Xujun, they captured theMacau Open title.[8]
In the beginning of the 2025 season, Liu and Chen reached their first ever final in the BWF World Tour Super 1000 at theMalaysia Open, but the duo were beaten by Korean new pairSeo Seung-jae andKim Won-ho.[9] They then won the silver medal at the2025 Asian Championships after being defeated in the final byAaron Chia andSoh Wooi Yik.[2] In August, Liu and Chen had a wonder run and grabbed silver medal in2025 BWF World Championships, beaten byKim Won-ho andSeo Seung-jae.[3]

The BWF World Tour, which was announced on 19 March 2017 and implemented in 2018,[10] is a series of elite badminton tournaments sanctioned by theBadminton World Federation (BWF).
