TheLittle Swan Island, part of theWaterhouse Island Group, is a 12.64-hectare (31.2-acre) uninhabitedgraniteisland situated in Banks Strait, part ofBass Strait, lying close to the north-eastern coast ofTasmania, Australia.[1]
Other islands in the Waterhouse Group include[1] theNinth,Tenth,Waterhouse,Little Waterhouse,Maclean,Baynes,Cygnet,Foster,Swan,Bird Rock,George Rocks,St Helens, andPaddys islands.
Recorded breedingseabird andwader species arelittle penguin,short-tailed shearwater,common diving-petrel,white-faced storm-petrel,Pacific gull,sooty oystercatcher andAustralian pelican. The pelican colony is the southernmost in Australia. Themetallic skink is present.[1]
