Lists of 20th-century earthquakes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about 20th-century earthquakes. For earthquakes before 1901, seeHistorical earthquakes. For earthquakes after 2000, seeList of 21st-century earthquakes.

Earthquakes of magnitude 8.0 and greater from 1900 to 2018. The apparent 3D volumes of the bubbles are linearly proportional to their respective fatalities.[1]

Thislist of 20th-century earthquakes is a list of earthquakes ofmagnitude 6 and above that occurred in the 20th century. Some smaller events which nevertheless had a significant impact are also included. After 1900 most earthquakes have some degree ofinstrumental records and this means that the locations and magnitudes are more reliable than for earlier events.
