The following is an incompletelist of notable submarine sandwich restaurants.
Asubmarine sandwich, also known as a sub, wedge, hoagie, hero, gyro, grinder, baguette, or one of many regional naming variations, is asandwich that consists of a longroll ofItalian orFrench bread, split widthwise either into two pieces, called "unhinged", or opened in a "V" on one side, called "hinged", and filled with a variety of meats, cheeses, vegetables, seasonings, and sauces.[1] The sandwich has no standardized name, and many U.S. regions have their own names for it.[1]
