Thespeaker of the National Assembly of Hungary (Hungarian:Az Országgyűlés elnöke, literally thepresident of National Assembly) is thepresiding officer of theNational Assembly ofHungary. The current speaker isLászló Kövér, since 6 August 2010.
Since 1990, the speaker of the National Assembly also serves as actingPresident of Hungary if the elected president vacates the office before the expiration of the five-year presidential term due to death, resignation or removal from office, or temporarily if the president is incapacitated.
