This is a list of thereptiles of Canada. Most species are confined to the southernmost parts of the country. All Canadian reptiles are composed ofsquamates andtestudines.

Conservation status -IUCN Red List of Threatened Species:

EX - Extinct,EW - Extinct in the wild
CR - Critically endangered,EN - Endangered,VU - Vulnerable
NT - Near threatened,LC - Least concern
DD - Data deficient,NE - Not evaluated

Order Squamata

Thewestern skink (Plestiodon skiltonianus skiltonianus) is found in southernBritish Columbia
Thefive-lined skink,Plestiodon fasciatus, finds home in the Great Lakes region ofOntario

Of the orderSquamata,lizards andsnakes are represented. There are no knownamphisbaenids native to Canada.

Snakes (suborderSerpentes)

Snakes are the best-represented group of reptiles in Canada, with 35 varieties in threefamilies. They can be found in all provinces and territories exceptYukon,Nunavut, andNewfoundland and Labrador.

Lizard diversity is low in Canada, with six native species and one introduced species:

Of the orderTestudines,pond turtles are common in all of Canada's provinces, with the exception ofNewfoundland and Labrador, which hassea turtles off its shores as doesBritish Columbia.
