This is a list ofmass stabbings that took place in the 2020s.
On 14 March 2020, a Hispanic American man, 18, attacked anAsian family at aSam's Club in Midland. After grabbing a knife from a store display, the attacker punched the father and cut him before attacking two of his sons, aged two and six. A Sam's Club employee and aU.S. Customs and Border Protection officer held the attacker down, with the store employee being stabbed in the process. The attacker yelled for the family to "get out of America" during the attack and later told police he attacked them because he believed they wereChinese and responsible for theCOVID-19 pandemic, though the family was actuallyBurmese. The attacker pleaded guilty to federal hate crime charges and was sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison.[1][2]
On 1 May, afly-in fly-out worker fromPerth attacked seven people in a shopping centre. None died but five were hospitalised. Police shot the attacker dead.[3]
On 11 June, one person was killed and five others were injured in a mass stabbing at a school. The perpetrator was shot dead.[4]

On the evening of 20 June 2020, a man with a knife attacked people who were socialising inForbury Gardens inReading, Berkshire, United Kingdom. Three men died from their wounds, and three other people were seriously injured. Khairi Saadallah, a 25-year-oldLibyan refugee, was arrested shortly afterwards. He pleaded guilty of three counts ofmurder and three counts ofattempted murder, and in January 2021 was sentenced to awhole-life term.
The inquest, which concluded in April 2024, found that the attacks were avoidable.
At approximately 12:50 pm on 26 June 2020, a man stabbed six people in the Park Inn Hotel, West George Street in thecity centre of Glasgow, Scotland.[5] The attacker was cornered in an upstairs room of the hotel where he was shot dead by a police officer.[6] Earlier, a police officer had responded to the initial call for emergency services to attend the scene and was injured shortly after arriving at the hotel. Armed response units were then called to the scene, before evacuating all staff members and asylum seekers to safety before attempting to apprehend the attacker.[7]
The attacker stabbed and injured six people, including a police officer and hotel staff.[6] The 42-year-old male police officer confronted the attacker and suffered serious injuries to his neck, abdomen, and leg.[8] He later recovered and left the hospital.[5] A 17-year-old boy fromSierra Leone was stabbed in his abdomen after a struggle with the attacker. The other injured men are two asylum seekers and two hotel staff members, aged 18, 20, 38, and 53; all were admitted into hospital.[7][9] One was in critical condition.[10]
At the time of the attack, the Park Inn Hotel had been closed to all potential guests due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was instead being used byMears Group to accommodate asylum seekers.[11][12] A spokeswoman for thecampaign group Positive Action In Housing said the hotel was housing asylum seekers for the Mears Group, a housing and social care provider; 100 asylum seekers were said to have been residing there.[13][14]
The attacker, Badreddin Abadlla Adam,[10][15][16] was a 28-year-old male asylum seeker from Sudan who had arrived in the UK six months earlier.[17] He went on a rampage after numerous reports had been made to the relevant authorities by charities and other asylum seekers residing in Park Inn Hotel, who were concerned about his deteriorating mental health, and the potential risk he posed to himself and others.[18]
Police Scotland announced that the stabbing was not being treated as a terrorist incident.[19] Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Steve Johnson said, "As would be the case in any police discharge of firearms involving a fatality, theCrown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has instructed thePolice Investigations and Review Commissioner to investigate."[20] Detectives are investigating whether the attacker was in any way inspired by themass stabbing attack in Reading six days prior.[21]
On 15 July, a woman was killed and two more were injured in a series of stabbings. The perpetrator was arrested.[22]
On 26 July 2020, four people were stabbed inMoss Side inManchester,England. 17-year-old Mohamoud Mohamed died at the scene.[23] The incident was the result of a gangland feud betweenRusholme Crips and Moss Side's AO, or, 'Active Only'. Both gangs are believed to have grown out of Manchester's notoriousGooch and Doddington outfits.[24][25][26] The attack happened a month after amass shooting in the same area that killed two people.[27]
Police were called to a disturbance in Henbury Street, Moss Side, at 7:30 pm.[28] A murder investigation was launched following the death of one of the victims, teenager Mohamoud Mohamed.[29][30] The alleged perpetrators and members of Moss Side's AO were arrested the next day. On 12 February 2021, four men were convicted of manslaughter; Daneaco Reid, 19; Jamall Walters, 18; Romeo Daley, 18; and a 17-year-old boy. They were all arrested and charged with murder.[31]
Members of the two rival Manchester gangs would often release music and videos taunting and threatening each other, which some believe has led to more violence. In court, some of the music from AO's members was played, lyrics to one particular track said: "I swear that's Mo let's kill him, kill him...". The gang members and music artists often express their allegiance in music through the use of certain hand signals, and wearing different colours, Moss Side's AO wearing the red bandana, and Rusholme Crips wearing light blue.[32]
On 25 September 2020, two people were injured in a stabbing outside the former headquarters of the French satirical magazineCharlie Hebdo in Paris. The magazine's headquarters had previously been the site ofan Islamic terrorist attack in 2015.[33] TheFrench Interior MinisterGérald Darmanin considered this to be "clearly an act of Islamist terrorism."[34] A man from Pakistan, suspected of carrying out the attacks, was arrested near the scene.[35] Six other suspects were subsequently arrested in Paris in connection with the attack.[36]
The main suspect was identified as a 25-year-old Pakistani man,[37] who is charged with "attempted murder in association with a terrorist enterprise."[38][39] The suspect acknowledged having carried out the attack for religious reasons.[40] He claimed to be 18 in order to be eligible forsocial welfare benefits.[37] Before the attack, he stated in a video that he was seeking vengeance againstCharlie Hebdo for publishing caricatures of Islam's prophet Muhammad.[41] The suspect left his village in thePunjab region inPakistan in early 2018 and came to Europe, following his brothers and other young men from the village. According toAssociated Press, villagers considered the suspect a hero for carrying out the Paris attack. The suspect's father championed his son's actions, but was warned by Pakistani police against speaking publicly.[41] In France, the suspect moved toPantin, a working-class district with many immigrants from North Africa,Sub-Saharan Africa and Pakistan. He shared an apartment with several other Pakistanis above aHookah bar.[41]
In December 2020, four Pakistanis aged 17 to 21 were found to have been in contact with the assailant by authorities and were taken into custody. Two were apprehended in theGironde, a third inCaen and the fourth in the Paris region. According to authorities, they had "spread their ideology and one of them had expressed his hatred against France before the attack". The investigation had also found numerous messages published on theTikTok social media network where the suspects expressed their hatred towards Muhammad caricatures and "glorified" the assault by their compatriot.[42]
On 29 September 2020, 3 people were attacked with knives in a school.[43]
On the night ofHalloween 2020, at about 10:30 p.m. local time, a man dressed in amedieval costume carried out a mass stabbing inQuebec City, attacking people with akatana-style saber near the provincial legislature, theNational Assembly of Quebec. The victims were chosen at random. Two people were killed, Suzanne Clermont, a 61-year-old woman and François Duchesne, a 56-year-old man,[44] and five others were injured.
Carl Girouard, a 24-year-old man fromSainte-Thérèse on Montreal'sNorth Shore, was arrested.[45][46] The police reported that the attacker was prepared to inflict as much damage as possible, and had gasoline containers in his car. The man was not affiliated with any terror group, according to police, but his motivations are unknown.[47][48] Police said that the man had, five years prior, expressed to a doctor threats to perform similar actions.[46][49] On 18 June 2021, Prosecutor François Godin filed a direct indictment, with Girouard set to go directly to trial without a preliminary hearing.[50] On 20 May 2022, after five days of deliberation, Carl Girouard was convicted of the first degree murders of François Duchesne and Suzanne Clermont. He faced life in prison with no possibility of parole within the next 25 years.[51]
On 27 December 2020, a man stabbed fourteen people inKaiyuan, China, killing seven.[52] As the school was closed at the time of the incident, no students or teachers were hurt. The victims were all passersby, mainly middle-aged or elderly women. The attacker then stabbed and wounded a policeman before being arrested.[53] The suspect, identified as Yang Moufeng, is a man in his 60s.[54]
On 4 January 22 people were killed in a mass stabbing committed by the ADF.[55]
Some minutes before 14:55 local time, near the street of Bangårdsgatan in the southern Swedish locality ofVetlanda, a man went on a 19-minute mass stabbing rampage in the streets,[56] attacking random pedestrians with aknife.[57] The police received its first emergency calls at 14:54local time, with the first patrol arriving at 15:10. Three minutes later, the attacker was shot by police and wounded, before being arrested.[56] Police said that five different crime scenes were identified, hundreds of metres apart.[58] The police investigation concluded that the attack was not a terrorist act.[59] An investigation by theSwedish National Board of Forensic Medicine found that the perpetrator was not suffering from a severe mental disorder (allvarlig psykisk störning [sv], a Swedish legal term), during the attack. This meant that he could be sent to prison when found guilty instead of a psychiatric institution.[60][61]
Seven civilians were stabbed.[62] The oldest victim was born in 1945, and the youngest was born in 1985.[63] They were all men.[64] All casualties, including the perpetrator, were hospitalised. Three of them were initially in life-threatening, critical condition;[65][66] two were seriously injured, two others were moderately injured and one individual was slightly injured.[67]
The perpetrator is Tamim Sultani, anAfghan who had sought asylum in Sweden claiming to be 22 years old[66][68] and lived in an apartment in Vetlanda.[69] According to public records, he applied for asylum in Norway using an Afghan passport which said he was born in 1988. Norway rejected his application. He then migrated to Sweden in 2018 and applied for asylum again, this time saying he was born in 1999. He received a temporary residence permit which was later extended. TheSwedish Migration Agency did not send him back to Norway which they should have according to theDublin Regulation.[70] He moved to Vetlanda in April 2020,[65] from a nearby town. According to his neighbours he spoke Swedish poorly and had no English knowledge, which made communication with him difficult.[71] He was frequently helped by a woman from the social services. He had a previous conviction fordrug offences[72] and was known by the police for committing minor offences.[69]
Sultani was prosecuted by theEksjö District Court but the trial was held in the high-security premises ofJönköping District Court. The trial started 21 May.[73] He was found guilty of seven attempted murder and a minor narcotics offense. He was sentenced to life in prison and deportation from Sweden and ordered to pay damages to each stabbing victim.[57][68]
On 15 March 15 civilians were killed in a stabbing attack. The ADF was suspected to have been behind the attack.[74]
On 27 March 2021, one person was killed and six others were injured in a mass stabbing inNorth Vancouver,British Columbia,Canada. A man named Yannick Bandaogo was arrested andcharged withsecond-degree murder.[75][76][77][78] In September 2021, he was additionally charged with one count of aggravated assault and five counts of attempted murder.[79][80] Bandaogo did not know any of his victims. On 29 May 2023, he pleaded guilty to all of the charges.[81] On 31 August 2023, he was sentenced tolife imprisonment.[82]
On 28 April, 4 people were killed and another one was injured in an attack at a hospital, the perpetrator, identified as a female hospital’s employee, was arrested. The victims were all patients.[83]
On 27 May, Islamist militants entered a Congolese town and proceeded to stab people while raiding the village. 22 people were killed. The attack happened only 2 months after a 1st attack killed 15 people.[84]
The2021 Anqing stabbing attack was a mass stabbing in which seven people were killed and 13 others wounded inAnqing,China on 5 June 2021. The attack is believed to have been committed by a single attacker. The attacker wielded a knife and indiscriminately stabbed pedestrians in the streets. The suspected perpetrator was identified as 25 years old andunemployed when the stabbings had occurred. He was later identified as Liang Wu, and was sentenced todeath on 15 November 2021 on counts of homicide.[85] The perpetrator reportedly confessed to the crime and was motivated by his family problems, and was a self describedpessimist. He apparently viewed his attack as a way to "vent" from his family issues.[86]
Espen Andersen Bråthen,[a] a 37-year-old Danish citizen born in Norway,[87] attacked eight people with various weapons – including a bow and arrow and knife – at locations in Kongsberg, Buskerud. Five people were killed, and three others were injured.
On 13 February, a man rode a bicycle through the city stabbing 11 people. He was later caught and taken into custody.[88]
In the early morning hours of 25 April 2022, neighbours heard screams from a three-bedroomedterraced house in Delaford Road, Bermondsey, in south London, England.[89][90]Police attended at 1:40 am, discovering the bodies of three women and a man inside the house. They were a 64-year-oldJamaican woman, her 58-year-old partner, as well as her 45-year-old daughter, and 28-year-old granddaughter.[89] Police arrested a 28-year-old man at the scene and said they are not looking for anyone else.[89] On 28 April, the man, Joshua Jacques (born 19 April 1994), was charged with four counts ofmurder.[90] On 21 December 2023, and following a three-week trial at theOld Bailey, Jacques was found guilty of the four murder charges.[91] On 1 March 2024, Jacques was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 46 years.[92]
On 13 May, an attack occurred in a train station injuring 6 people. The police arrested an Iraqi man and were investigating if it was a terrorist attack.[93]
On 20 May, three people were injured one critically in attacks inUvdal andNore. Police said it was due to a domestic dispute, The perpetrator was a Syrian migrant.[94]
On 28 June, 1 person was killed and 5 other were injured in an attack at a shelter for asylum-seekers.[95]
On 9 July, 4 people were wounded in a stabbing in a hospital. Police opened fire and subdued the suspect.[96]
On 6 October, a stabbing spree occurred along theLas Vegas Strip, killing two people and injuring at least six.[97][98] The incident occurred in front of theWynn Casino.[99] It is the deadliest stabbing attack in the United States since the2020 Knox County stabbing.
Security footage shows a man entering the Wynn Casino, where he reportedly asked the janitor to contact ICE for him so he could return to his home in Guatemala. Shortly afterward, he then told a security guard at the Wynn that he was trying to sell his knives. Just before 11:40 a.m. when performers dressed as showgirls were approached by the suspect outside the hotel, he reportedly told a group of four showgirl impersonators that he was a chef at the Wynn. The suspect asked to take a picture with some of the showgirls for free, but they declined. Soon after, he proceeded to stab two of the showgirls. He then began running and attacked six more people—a combination of locals and tourists—before fleeing, pursued by witnesses.[100] A man in a bloodstainedchef's white jacket was arrested a short time later, and police retrieved a knife from nearby bushes that they believed had been thrown there in the retreat.[101] Police reported that the accused thought that his first victims were "laughing at him and making fun of his clothing", and that he continued the attack to "let the anger out".[100]
The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Yoni Barrios, a Guatemalan citizen whoU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement believe entered the United States without passing through a border checkpoint.[102]KSNV obtained records of a 2019 domestic violence charge filed against him in California, which was not prosecuted due to aCOVID-19 pandemic-related backlog in the court system and the victim's non-appearance in court.[103] His public defender raised mental health concerns at an arraignment hearing the week following his arrest, and in December, two court psychiatrists found Barrios unable to understand court proceedings or the charges against him.[101][104] He was ordered to indefinite care at a state psychiatric facility until found competent to face charges.
On 18 October 2 people were killed and another was injured after a stabbing attack, the perpetrator, a Somali National was arrested.[105]
On 27 October, 1 person was killed and 5 others includingSpanish footballerPablo Mari were injured in a mass stabbing in a carrefour supermarket. The perpetrator, a man with mental health problems, who used a knife from a shelf was arrested at the scene.[106]
A stabbing attack happened on 10 November 2022 inBrussels,Belgium, killing a police officer and injuring another. Authorities suspect the attack to be terror-related.[107][108] The attacker shouted the Arabic phraseallahu akbar while committing the stabbing.[109]
At around 18:15 (GMT) close to the city'sBrussels-North railway station two officers were stabbed before the attacker was shot in the legs and abdomen by another police patrol arriving at the scene. One of the police officers died after being stabbed in the neck. The other wounded officer as well as the attacker were hospitalised.[110]
The suspect is a 32-year-old Belgian-Moroccan named Yassine Mahi, who was born and domiciled in Brussels. He was known to the Belgian security authorities and appeared on a list ofradicalized Muslims. In the morning on the same day the stabbing incident happened, he made threats against the police on a police station. Despite the threats he was not arrested but instead brought by the police to the psychiatric unit of theSaint-Luc hospital, where he stayed voluntarily for psychiatric treatment. There he was able to leave the hospital.[111][112] The police checked the criteria for psychiatric surveillance, but because he voluntarily went to psychiatric treatment, the legal criteria was not given.[113]
On 15 November 2022, avehicle-ramming andstabbing attack killed three Israelis and wounded three others in the West Bank settlement of Ariel. The attacker started by stabbing a security guard at the entrance to the Ariel Industrial Park and then fatally stabbed two men and wounded another during a knife attack at theTen gas station which was 60–70 meters away. He left the scene with his vehicle which he rammed into a group of cars, fatally injuring a 50-year-old man fromKiryat Netafim. Acivilian exited his car to help the wounded man which the perpetrator used as an opportunity to steal the man'sBMW and drive off.[114] He drove the vehicle to an area on the road withtraffic where he tried to attack more cars. The killer was shot dead by civilians and security forces,[115][116][117] at around 9:48 am local time, twenty minutes after the attack had started.[116]
An 18-year-old Palestinian man named Mohammed Souf from the village ofHaris was identified as the perpetrator. He worked as a cleaner at the Ariel Industrial Park.[115][116] He was associated with the West Bank's rulingFatah party and his father was a member of the party. Souf did not have acriminal record, but his father had spent time in Israeli prison.[118] His home was demolished by the Israeli military in May 2023.[119]
On 11 January, 6 people were injured in a mass stabbing in the Gare du Nord train station. The attacker was shot, arrested, and hospitalised.[120]
A teacher was stabbed and killed and 5 other people were injured in a school attack. A 13 year old student was taken to a police station.[121]
On 18 April, 4 people were injured in an attack at a gym.[122]
In the early hours of 30 April, a deadly knife fight and stabbing between 2 groups was enemy after argument outside a nightclub inBodmin,Cornwall,England,United Kingdom, left 4 people dead including 1 man beheaded by machete and 7 others injured.[123] 4 people being stabbed who then subsequently died at the scene. Seven other men and women were injured by stab wounds and taken to hospital. Injuries ranged from ‘serious’ to ‘minor’, but none were life-threatening. Five of the injured were released from hospital within 24 hours, and the remaining two remained longer in hospital to recover from surgery.[123]
On 2 May 2023, a local man, Jake Hill, 24, of Jubilee Terrace, Bodmin, was charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder and two counts ofSection 18 causinggrievous bodily harm with intent.[124] On 4 May, the judge said that the public should refrain from discussing the case, in order to guarantee a fair trial.[125]
A tribute site was set up at Bodmin RFC, where people could gather to remember Michael Allen, pay their respects and lay flowers.[126] Additionally, the local Bodmin Youth FC football team closed its nearby ground at Coldharbour after the incident and cancelled training on 3 and 4 May 2023 out of respect.[127]
On 12 April 2024, and following a trial atTruro Crown Court, Jake Hill was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 28 years for the murder of Michael Riddiough-Allen.[128]
On 10 May, a 19 year old man went on a rampage in an orphanage killing a 16 year old girl and injuring 9 other people.[129]
On 14 May, four women were injured after being stabbed during a fight at an apartment building on Milwaukee's northside. Two women and a teenage girl were later apprehended. Afterwards, ten knives were reportedly recovered from the scene.[130][131]
On 1 June, four people were injured in an attack at a school.[132]
On 21 July, 1 person was killed and 3 other were injured in a stabbing attack near subway station. The attacker was apprehended.[133]
Between 31 August and 1 September 2023, Begoña Lauga Blanco, an engineer inLas Condes, stabbed her three children (one of whom suffered fromDown syndrome) to death, one-by-one, with a knife before alerting her husband viaWhatsApp about the murders and finally slitting her own throat. When her husband arrived, Lauga was alive but injured. By the time paramedics arrived on scene, she had bled out to death. It was later revealed she suffered from clinicaldepression and her husband had just started divorce proceedings.[134][135][136]
On 18 September, 3 people were injured in a mass stabbing at the Australian national university, the attacker was detained.[137]
On 13 October 2023, a mass stabbing occurred at the Gambetta-Carnotsecondary school inArras,Pas-de-Calais,Hauts-de-France, France. One person was killed, and three others were seriously wounded. The attack was postulated to be connected torumours that Hamas had called for a global day of terrorism on the 13th.[138][139] The suspect was previously known to the French security services for his involvement withradical Islamism.[140][141]At around 11:00CEST on 13 October 2023, the attack began in the school's car park.[142][143] According to witnesses the suspect was heard shouting "Allahu akbar" during the attack.[144] The attacker was confronted by a teacher and other members of staff including the headmaster before being detained by police.[142][145] A French language teacher, Dominique Bernard, was killed while another teacher, a security guard and a cleaner were seriously injured.[146][147]
The suspected attacker is a Russian man ofIngush origin[148] who was born in 2003 and moved to France with his family in 2008.[142] Police had arrested him the previous day on suspicion of radicalism.[146] The suspect was known to the French security services for his involvement with radical Islamism; he was arrested by police.[149] The suspect was listed at a state list of potential dangerous persons and the domestic secret serviceDGSI is said to have, among other things, intercepted his telephone conversations.[150] The suspect is a former student of the school and his younger brother was also detained on the same day.[151] The attacker pledged allegiance to theIslamic State and expressed his hatred for France.[152]
The funeral of Bernard was held in theArras cathedral with screens used to broadcast the hundred watching outside. Bernard was posthumously awarded theLegion of Honor by French President Macron.[153] Immediately after the attack France mobilized at least 7,000 soldiers to be stationed around the country for an increase in security.[154] Classes were canceled at the Gambetta-Carnot school where Bernard taught, and bomb threats were seen across the country, in airports, theLouvre Museum and thePalace of Versailles.[153] The school was subject to a bomb threat after Bernard's death but as it had only been open to allow pupils and staff to pay tribute to Bernard and other victims, the process of evacuation was quick.[155]
On the evening 23 October 15-year-old Erik Mendoza stabbed three people within minutes of each other on Milwaukee's northside at random.[156]
Two days later, on 26 October, Mendoza, along with 27-year-old David Pietura,allegedly killed 5-year-old Prince McCree in the basement house they shared with McCree. In July 2024, Pietura was sentenced to life in prison without parole for his role in McCree's death. Mendoza currently awaits trial.[157][158]
On the night of 19 November, a group of around 10 people armed with knives attacked people at a village festival inCrépol,Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. Seventeen people were wounded, three critically; a 16-year-old boy was killed.[159][160]
On November 1, 2023, a series of stabbings took place within the campus ofVan Nuys High School located in theLos Angeles neighborhood ofVan Nuys. Five students were injured,[161] along with three unidentified perpetrators being detained.[162]
A senior student atLouisiana Tech University was charged with stabbing four women on campus on 13 November 2023, killing one. According to police, the suspect first threatened a student playing basketball inside the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center before chasing him outside. The man then stabbed two women leaving an exercise class, killing one. The man then attacked another woman who taught a class at the center, as well as a woman to attempted to intervene.[163]
On 2 December 2023, a French man of Iranian origin carried out a knife and hammer attack against three people nearPont de Bir-Hakeim inParis,France, killing one of them.[164]
On Quai de Grenelle in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, just before 21:00 CET (20:00 GMT) on 2 December 2023, a man attacked three people using a knife and hammer as he allegedly shouted Allahu Akbar.[164] One victim was killed.[164]
Police tasered the suspect near the scene[165] and arrested him for premeditated murder and terrorist-motivated attempted murder.[164] PresidentEmmanuel Macron described it as a terrorist attack.[164]
The fatally attacked victim was a young man who was a tourist from thePhilippines, who had immigrated toGermany.[164] He was a nurse who was a naturalised German citizen.[164] The surviving victims are a Frenchman aged around 60 and a 66-year-old British tourist.[164][165]
The suspect is Armand Rajabpour-Miyandoabis, a 26-year-old man who has mental health problems.[164][165] He was born in France in 1997 to Iranian parents who fled theIranian Revolution in 1979.[164][165][166] He acquiredFrench nationality on 20 March 2002, through the collective effet of his parents'naturalization.[167][168] His birth first name was Iman, but it was changed in 2003.[168] He was released from prison in 2020 after serving four years for planning an attack. He has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.[164]
On 3 December, a man stabbed and killed 4 of his family member and injured another one before he went on to attack 2 police officers before he was shot dead.[169]
On 10 February 2024, the first day of theChinese New Year, a woman reportedly attacked multiple people in Zhaike Village, a settlement inRizhao'sJu County inShandong, China, with a knife and some type of firearm. Also known as theJu County massacre (Chinese:莒县惨案) or Zhaike Village massacre, the incident left at least 21 people dead, including one doctor and two police officers,[170][171][unreliable source?] and many more injured. Details of the bloodshed remain unclear and unconfirmed due tostrict government censorship.[172] Some reports indicated that additional attackers were involved.
On February 22, a student stabbed 5 people in a school beforeattempting suicide and getting arrested.[173]
On 23 February, 3 women were stabbed to death in a brothel. A 27 year old suspect was arrested.[174]
On 6 March, 3 people were killed after a student at a school attacked people with a knife and an axe.[175]
On March 6, 2024, the Wickramasinghe family,Sri Lankan immigrants, were fatally stabbed inside of their house inBarrhaven, a suburb ofOttawa, Ontario, Canada. Four children were killed, along with their mother, a male family friend and their father was injured. It was the worstmass killing in the city's recent history.[176]
Febrio De-Zoysa, 19, a Sri Lankan formerAlgonquin College student residing with the family, was arrested in connection with the incident, and was charged with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.[177][178] On November 6, 2025, De Zoysa pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. The next day, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with no chance ofparole for 25 years.[179]
On 10 March 2024. A man fatally stabbed his wife and three children, aged 17, 12, and 10, at a residence located in theManoa neighborhood. The man then committed suicide. He did this because the family was in financial distress.[180]
On 12 March, 3 Coptic Christian monks from Egypt were stabbed to death in an orthodox church. A 4th person was reportedly hit with an iron rod.[181]
On 25 March, Francisco Uribe Obando stabbed a pregnant woman, her husband of 12 years, and their 10-year-old daughter to death.[182] The suspect has since been diagnosed withbipolar disorder andschizophrenia and is awaiting trial.[183]
On March 27, 2024, four people were killed and seven others were injured in amass stabbing in and nearRockford, Illinois, with the fatalities entailing two men, a woman, and a 15-year-old girl. A suspect, 22-year-old Christian Ivan Soto, of Rockford, was taken into custody and charged with several counts offirst-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, andhome invasion.
On 13 April 2024, a mass stabbing took place at theWestfield Bondi Junction shopping centre in the eastern suburbs ofSydney, New South Wales, Australia. 40-year-old Joel Cauchi killed six people and injured twelve, including a nine-month-old infant. Cauchi was later fatally shot by a NSWPolice Inspector after he ran at her with a knife in hand.
Although media noted that the majority of casualties were female,[184] an inquest by theCoroner's Court of New South Wales denied a misogynistic motive and stated that the killings were committed without specific targets while Cauchi was in a state ofpsychosis.[185]
On 7 May, a 40-year-old man stabbed two people to death and injured 21 others in a knife attack before being arrested. He had been imprisoned before due to injuring others over a motorcycle dispute in 2013.[186]

On 25 May 2024, a 26-year-oldMartha's Vineyard man allegedly stabbed four girls at theAMC Braintree 10 movie theater inBraintree, Massachusetts. Hours later, the same man allegedly stabbed twoMcDonald's employees at a restaurant inQuincy. He was arrested inSandwich later that day and was charged in connection with those stabbings, as well as the stabbing death of a man inDeep River, Connecticut, believed to have been committed before the movie theater stabbing.[190]
On 10 June 2024, four Americans fromCornell College,Iowa were stabbed while visiting a temple inBeishan Park, along with one Chinese national.[191]
On 12 and 13 June 2024, a 19-year-old man stabbed three people in different neighborhoods throughout Charlotte.[192]
On 17 June 2024, a 27-year-old man stabbed and injured nine people during a confrontation between two groups outside of a restaurant on Indianapolis's northwest side. The man was later arrested.[193][194]

Between 3 and 8 July 2024 four men were attacked inHayes,West London by a man described by the officers as a being a muscular black male with straight hair aged around 35, carrying a knife.[196]
On 10 July, 3 people were stabbed to death in a hotel in the Philippines including 2 Australian tourists.[197]
On 4 August 2024, a mass stabbing targeting civilians occurred at three nearby locations inHolon. The attack resulted in the deaths of two elderly individuals—a 66-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man—while two others were injured.[198] The attacker, a 35-year-old Palestinian man fromSalfit,West Bank, was shot and killed at the scene by a police officer.[199] Palestinian militant organizationHamas later issued a statement mourning the perpetrator, describing him as a "martyred hero."[199]
Shortly before midnight on 4 August 2024, a man stabbed and injured five men outside of a bar in Queens during a fight. Afterwards, the attacker fled the scene.[200]
On 12 August 2024, a mass stabbing occurred outside of a mosque inEskisehir. The attacker, identified as 18-year-old Arda Küçükyetim, stabbed and wounded five people before being arrested. He was caught with an axe, a bulletproof vest and helmet, all adorned with neo-Nazi symbology.[201]
On the evening of 23 August 2024, a man armed with a knife attacked several people at a festival inSolingen marking the city's 650 years. The stabbing resulted in at least three fatalities and multiple severe injuries.[202][203] The perpetrator, described by witnesses as appearing of Arab descent, fled the scene and initially remained at large.[204] TheIslamic State later claimed responsibility for the attack.[205]Later the suspect turned himself in to police.[206]

On 23 May 2025, a mass stabbing took place at thecentral train station ofHamburg, Germany. Eighteen people were wounded. Passersby subdued the perpetrator, 39-year-old Lydia S., until the arrival ofHamburg Police.[272][273] Police ruled out political or terrorist motives, and due to the perpetrator's history, they have strong reasons to believe that she was affected by mental illness.[274][275][276] In January 2026, Lydia S. was found not criminally responsible due toschizophrenia and placed in indefinite holding at aforensic psychiatric facility.[277]

On June 23, 145 people were pricked with syringes by strangers, many of them at a music festival in Paris, after calls for the act were placed on the internet. Police detained 12 people in connection with the attacks. Authorities are unsure if substances were used in the syringes, but many of the victims said they felt ill afterward.[285]
On 1 July, a stabbing attack at the Ueberlandwerke Rhön electric utility company inMellrichstadt,Bavaria, Germany, left one woman dead and two men seriously injured. The 59-year-old female victim died from multiple stab wounds, while the two male victims, aged 55 and 62, sustained serious injuries. A 21-year-old German man was arrested at the scene. On 3 July, four people were stabbed near the Ratina shopping centre in Tampere, southern Finland, on Thursday afternoon. The victims, all adults, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were given first aid at the scene before being hospitalized. Police quickly detained a Finnish man in his twenties as the suspect. Authorities have ruled out any terrorist or racist motives at this stage and are investigating the case as four counts of attempted manslaughter. The shopping centre was temporarily locked down, and the area was cordoned off before being reopened once the situation was secured.[287]
On July 8, a 9-year-old was killed and a teacher and another child were injured when a 16-year-old attacked people with a knife at a school in theEstação municipality ofRio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A suspect was arrested shortly after. The suspect had no criminal record and police did not release his identity or other details. The police said a motive was not immediately clear and an investigation was underway. TheTunisian perpetrator was fatally shot by police after ignoring police warnings to drop his weapons in front of akebab restaurant near theOld Port of Marseille. The man, armed with two knives and a baton, attacked someone in his old room after being evicted from the hotel for unpaid rent before stabbing the hotel manager and his son and attempting to stab a manager in the snack bar before being chased outside by customers and stabbing two others on a nearby street. He was a legal resident but was known to police.[295]
On September 3, two men and a woman were fatally stabbed at a pizza restaurant inGwanak District. All victims were pronounced dead upon being transported to hospital. The perpetrator, a man in his 40s, was the owner of the restaurant and got into a dispute with contractors. He attempted to commitsuicide but was stopped, injuring himself in the process.[296]
On September 4, an 18-year-old woman was killed and eight others were injured in two mass stabbings inHollow Water First Nation. The suspect, the 26-year-old brother of the victim, died after colliding with a Mountie while fleeing.[297]
On September 4, a stabbing at a pork shop in Xishangzhuang, a village in Cheng District of Jincheng City, led to three deaths. The perpetrator, identified as the owner, killed a man during a dispute before killing another customer who attempted to flee upon seeing the murder, and a woman waiting for the man outside.[298]

On 1 November 2025, a multiple stabbing occurred on board aLondon North Eastern Railway train shortly after it had leftPeterborough railway station inCambridgeshire, United Kingdom. Two male assailants, of which one had a large knife, indiscriminately attacked passengers on the train and leaving eleven people injured.[304][305][306]

On 19 December 2025, 27-year-old Chang Wen (Chinese:張文)[b] threwsmoke grenades andstabbed people at two locations inTaipei, Taiwan, killing three people and injuring eleven others.[308] Chang Wen fled from police and died when he fell from theEslite Bookstore Nanxi building nearZhongshan Station.[309]
On 26 December 2025, a 38-year-old man injured fifteen co-workers in a mass stabbing and chemical attack at a tyre factory inMishima, Shizuoka, Japan. Eight people were stabbed and seven others were injured with bleach.[310][311]
On the morning of 28 December 2025, amass stabbing took place nearRichelieu [nl],Commewijne District, Suriname. 43-year-old Dennis Aroma killed nine people and injured two others. The victims were his own five minor children, four of whom were killed, and six neighbours. The perpetrator was arrested after being shot by police.
