The Caribbean Sea

Most of the Caribbean countries areislands in theCaribbean Sea, with only a few in inland lakes. The largest islands includeCuba,Hispaniola,Jamaica andPuerto Rico. Some of the smallest islands are referred to as arock orreef.

Islands are listed in alphabetical order by sovereign state. Islands with coordinates can be seen on the map linked to the right.

Cuba consists of over 4,000 islands andcays surrounding the country's main island, many of which make uparchipelagos. Off the south coast are two main archipelagos,Jardines de la Reina and theCanarreos Archipelago. TheSabana-Camagüey Archipelago runs along the northern coast and contains roughly 2,517 cays and islands.[9] TheColorados Archipelago is located off the north-western coast.
