List of fairy tales

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is adynamic list and may never be able to satisfy particular standards for completeness. You can help byediting the page to add missing items, with references toreliable sources.

Fairy tales are stories that range from those in folklore to more modern stories defined as literary fairy tales. Despite subtle differences in the categorizing offairy tales, folklore, fables, myths, andlegends, a modern definition of theliterary fairy tale, as provided by Jens Tismar'smonograph in German,[1] is a story that differs "from an oral folk tale" in that it is written by "a single identifiable author". They differ from oral folktales, which can be characterized as "simple and anonymous", and exist in a mutable and difficult to define genre with a close relationship tooral tradition.[2]
