Deandra Dottin was the first player to score a century in a WT20I match.

In the sport ofcricket, acentury is a score of one hundred or moreruns by abatter in a singleinnings.[1] In awomen's Twenty20 match, each team plays a single innings, which is restricted to a maximum of 20overs.[2] Awomen's Twenty20 International (WT20I) is an international cricket match between two teams, each having WT20I status, as determined by theInternational Cricket Council (ICC), the sport's world governing body.[3] TheTwenty20 format was originally introduced by theEngland and Wales Cricket Board for the men'scounty cricket competition, with the first matches contested on 13 June 2003 between the English counties in theTwenty20 Cup.[4] The first women's Twenty20 International match took place on 5 August 2004 whenNew Zealand defeatedEngland by nine runs at theCounty Cricket Ground inHove.[5][6] This match was held six months before the first men'sTwenty20 International, which was contested betweenAustralia andNew Zealand in February 2005.[7]

The first century in a WT20I match was scored byDeandra Dottin of theWest Indies. Dottin posted 112not out againstSouth Africa in the opening match of the2010 ICC Women's World Twenty20 atWarner Park inBasseterre.[8][9] Dottin's innings remains the fastest WT20I century (off 38deliveries),[10] and is the WT20I century with the higheststrike rate (248.88).[11]Batting at number six, Dottin's innings is one of two occasions where a WT20I century has been scored by a player batting at number five or lower.[12] The other was whenIndia'sHarmanpreet Kaur, who came in at number five, posted 103 against New Zealand during the2018 ICC Women's World Twenty20.[13]

Esha Oza of theUnited Arab Emirates has scored 4 WT20I centuries, the record.Fatuma Kibasu ofTanzania,Chamari Athapaththu ofSri Lanka,Rebecca Blake ofRomania andHayley Matthews of the West Indies follow with three each. Deandra Dottin of the West Indies,Danni Wyatt of England,Australia'sMeg Lanning andBeth Mooney, Prosscovia Alako ofUganda, Maria Castiñeiras ofArgentina,Amy Hunter andGaby Lewis ofIreland,Mariko Hill ofHong Kong, andMuneeba Ali ofPakistan have achieved the feat twice.[14][15] Both of Wyatt's WT20I centuries were scored in the second innings of the match; 2 of only 5 instances on centuries in the second innings.[16] There have been only three occurrences where a team was defeated in spite of a player scoring a century,[17] and seven occasions where two WT20I centuries were scored in the same match.[18]

The highest individual score of 169 in WT20Is was achieved by Lucia Taylor of Argentina.[19] At 38 years and 99 days, Bahrain'sDeepika Rasangika scored 161 not outagainst Saudi Arabia in March 2022 and became the oldest player to score a WT20I century.[20] At the age of 16 years and 233 days,Uganda'sProsscovia Alako became the youngest player to score a WT20I century when she made 116 againstMali at the2019 Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament in Rwanda.[21][22] Australia'sAlyssa Healy is one of only three designatedwicket-keepers to have scored a WT20I century, the others beingPakistan'sMuneeba Ali (twice) and Ireland'sAmy Hunter.[23][24] The only woman to have scored back-to-back T20I centuries is Maria Castiñeirasfor Argentina against Chile in October 2023.[25]

As of October 2025[update], a total of 68 centuries have been scored by 47 different players from 28 national teams after over 2,400 WT20I matches.[26][a]
