Nebraska was admitted to theUnion on March 1, 1867, and elects itsUnited States senators toclass 1 andclass 2.George W. Norris was the state’s longest serving senator (served 1913–1943). Nebraska's current senators are RepublicansDeb Fischer (since 2013) andPete Ricketts (since 2023).[1]
