Income in the
United States
flagUnited States portal

This haslists ofU.S. states, territories, andWashington, D.C. by income. Data is from various sources, such as theBureau of Labor Statistics and the yearlyAmerican Community Survey (ACS). Data is less frequent forAmerican Samoa,Guam, theNorthern Mariana Islands and theU.S. Virgin Islands.[note 1]

Average ormean full-time wage in the United States was $80,115 in 2023.[2]

Themedian income is the income amount that divides a population into two groups, half having an income above that amount, and half having an income below that amount. The average is higher than the median because there are a small number of individuals with very high earnings, and a large number of individuals with relatively low earnings.

Some of the table data is for full-time workers. Some is for households, which theFederal Reserve defines as: "A group of people living in the same home, regardless of their relationship to one another."[3]Investopedia defines families as "those related by birth, marriage, or adoption who live under the same roof."[4]

Per capita income (according to Investopedia) "counts every individual adult and child, even newborn babies, as a member of the population."[4]
