This is adynamic list and may never be able to satisfy particular standards for completeness. You can help byediting the page to add missing items, with references toreliable sources.

The following are the South African universities with the largest financial endowments, expressed inSouth African Rands atfair value. A financial endowment is a transfer ofmoney and/orproperty donated to aninstitution and the total value of an institution's investments is often referred to as the institution's endowment. All sources are official audited financial statements published in the respectivefiscal years. For this list,short scale billions (thousand of millions) are used.
