TheNew York Giants are a professionalAmerican football team based inEast Rutherford, New Jersey. They are members of theEast Division of theNational Football Conference (NFC) in theNational Football League (NFL). The franchise was founded in1925 and have played for 19NFL championships. They have won seven World Championship Games (Super Bowl and NFL Championship games) and one NFL Championship by virtue of having the league's best record at the end of the season in 1927.[1][2]

There have been 22 head coaches for the Giants franchise. Five coaches have wonNFL Championships with the team:Earl Potteiger in1927,Steve Owen in1934 and1938,Jim Lee Howell in1956,Bill Parcells in1986 and1990, andTom Coughlin in2007 and2011.[2] Steve Owen leads all-time in games coached and wins, andLeRoy Andrews leads all coaches in winning percentage with .828 (with at least one full season coached).[3]Bill Arnsparger is statistically the worst coach the Giants have had in terms of winning percentage, with .200.[4]

Of the 22 Giants coaches, three have been elected into thePro Football Hall of Fame:Benny Friedman, Steve Owen and Bill Parcells.[5] Several former players have been head coach for the Giants, includingDoc Alexander, Earl Potteiger, Benny Friedman, Steve Owen,Jim Lee Howell, andAlex Webster. The current head coach of the Giants isJohn Harbaugh, since his hiring on January 17, 2026.[6]
