The firsthat-trick, a player scoring three goals in a game, inMajor League Soccer, was scored bySteve Rammel ofD.C. United in their 5–2 win at theColumbus Crew on May 15, 1996.[1]

The league's fastest hat-trick was scored in under five minutes byHarut Karapetyan of theLA Galaxy on June 4, 1998, in an 8–1 win at theDallas Burn.[2] The fastest hat-trick from the start of a game was scored byHany Mukhtar ofNashville SC, who recorded three goals in the opening 16 minutes of a 5–1 victory againstChicago Fire FC on July 18, 2021 (the goals all came in a six-minute window).Clint Mathis scored the most goals in a game, when he scored five, on August 26, 2000, in a 6–4MetroStars win over the Burn.[3]

Roy Lassiter scored hat-tricks for theTampa Bay Mutiny[1] andD.C. United.[4]Dante Washington scored hat-tricks for the Burn[5] and the Crew.[6]Mamadou Diallo scored three hat-tricks for the Mutiny[7][8][9] and another for the MetroStars,[10] twice scoring four goals in a game.
