List of Aten asteroids

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list ofAten asteroids, a group ofnear-Earth objects. As of January 2017[update], there are 1125 known Atens,[1] most of which remainprovisionally designated without a number,[2] as they have not been observed at two or moreoppositions. The list is divided intonamed members, brightest, notable and otherrecord holding Aten asteroids. For a list of existing articles, seeAten asteroids (category).

Named Atens

[edit]

Aten asteroids are generally named afterEgyptian deities.[3] As of February 2024[update], a total of fourteen Aten asteroids have received a name. They are listed inchronological order of discovery.

Brightest Atens

[edit]

The following listsAten asteroids thought to be larger than 2 kilometers across. Assuming an albedo of 0.15, this converts to an absolute magnitude of about 16.2
