Lionel Conacher Jr. (born January 8, 1936) is a Canadian former professionalfootballrunning back in theCanadian Football League (CFL). He is the son of famed Canadian sports legend,Lionel Conacher.
A graduateUniversity of Western Ontario, his selection in the university draft stirred up considerable controversy when theToronto Argonauts passed him up forBill Mitchell (who, incidentally, ended up being the 1960rookie of the year).[1]
Drafted by theMontreal Alouettes, Conacher's career was brief, totalling six games during the 1960 season.[2]
His brother isBrian Conacher, a hockey player who represented Canada at the1964 Winter Olympics and won aStanley Cup with the 1967Toronto Maple Leafs.
Roy Conacher andCharlie Conacher are Lionel's uncle.
Murray Henderson andPete Conacher are Lionel's cousins.
