Road that links two major urban areas

Alink road is a transportinfrastructure road that links twoconurbations or other major road transport facilities, often added because of increasing road traffic. They can be controversial, especially if they threaten to destroynatural habitat andgreenfield land.

The term is used in the United Kingdom,[1] Australia,[2] and the United States state ofNebraska.An example of a link road isMarston Ferry Road inOxford, England. It was built in the late 20th century to linkNorth Oxford withMarston, Oxford to the east.
