Linghai (Chinese:凌海;pinyin:Línghǎi) is acounty-level city in the west ofLiaoning province,Northeast China. It was calledJinxian orJin County (Chinese:锦县) until 1993, when it was reorganized into acounty-level city and renamed Linghai. With its urban core lying on the west (right) bank of theDaling River, which flows intoLiaodong Bay near the city, it is under the administration of theprefecture-level city ofJinzhou, the seat of which is 21 kilometres (13 mi) to the southwest.
There are threesubdistricts, 11towns, seventownships, and oneethnic township under the city's administration.[3]
