Limmernsee (orLimmerensee) is areservoir in theCanton of Glarus,Switzerland, between the peaks ofMuttenchopf (2,482 m),Selbsanft (2,950 m) andKistenstöckli (2,746 m). It may be reached byaerial tramway or by foot fromLinthal.
The Limmern dam was completed in 1963 and is the largest reservoir used by theLinth–Limmern Power Stations. Thelake's surface area is 1.36 km2 (0.53 sq mi).
