TheLimbach L550E is a Germanaircraft engine, designed and produced byLimbach Flugmotoren ofKönigswinter.[2]

Design and development

The L550E is an air-cooledhorizontally-opposed 550cc four-cylindertwo-stroke petrol engine developing 37 kW (50 hp) at 7500 rpm which can drive a propeller either directly orgeared. It employs a singlemagneto ignition, fourcarburettors, and is lubricated by oil mixture lubrication with a fuel to oil ratio of 25:1 formineral oil or 50:1 forsynthetic oil.[1][2][3]

Iranian copy

Since at least 2014, the Iranian firmMado has marketed a copy of the L550E, called MD550.[4] The Mado variant is used for the IranianShahed-136 UAV.[5]
