Liesbeth van Tongeren (born 31 March 1958 inVlaardingen) is a Dutchpolitician, and formercivil servant and director ofGreenpeace Netherlands (2003–2010).[1] As a member ofGroenLinks, she was a member of theHouse of Representatives from 17 June 2010 to 13 June 2018. She focuses on matters ofclimate,energy,spatial planning,conservation andtraffic. On 7 June 2018, she was appointed alderwoman ofThe Hague. Her portfolio as alderwoman consists of sustainability andenergy transition.

Van Tongeren grew up inAlmelo and obtained anLL.B. fromVU University Amsterdam and anLL.M. ininternational law from theUniversity of Amsterdam.[2]
