Lies of Love (Italian:L'amorosa menzogna) is a 1949 Italianshortdocumentary film directed byMichelangelo Antonioni about a group of people who pose forphoto comics.[1]
Lies of Love was screened at the1949 Cannes Film Festival.[2]
Antonioni used the research for his documentary for a story idea which was later adapted forFederico Fellini's filmThe White Sheik.[1][3] According to Fellini, Antonioni, although he received screen credit, was not involved in the writing of the screenplay.[3]
Lies of Love has been screened as part of retrospectives on Antonioni at various festivals and institutions, including theMuseum of Modern Art,[4] theBerkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive,[5] and theCinémathèque Française.[6]
