LibreOffice Calc is thespreadsheet component of theLibreOffice suite.[4][5]
After forking fromOpenOffice.org in 2010, LibreOffice Calc underwent a massive re-work of external reference handling to fix many defects in formula calculations involving external references, and to boostdata caching performance, especially when referencing large data ranges.[6]
Calc is capable of opening and saving most spreadsheets inMicrosoft Excel file format.[4] Calc is also capable of saving spreadsheets asPDF files.[4]
As with the entire LibreOffice suite, Calc is available for a variety of platforms, includingLinux, macOS,Microsoft Windows,[7] andFreeBSD.[8] Available under theMozilla Public License, Calc isfree and open-source software.[9] There are community builds for many other platforms. Ecosystem partnerCollabora uses LibreOffice upstream code and provides apps forAndroid,iOS,iPadOS andChromeOS.[10][11] LibreOffice Online is an online office suite which includes the applicationsWriter, Calc and Impress and provides an upstream for projects such as commercialCollabora Online.
There is now a closed beta of LibreOffice onAmigaOS 4.1.[12]
Capabilities of Calc include:
Originally called DataPilot,[6] Pivot Table provides similar functionality to thePivot table found inMicrosoft Excel. It is used for interactive table layout and dynamic data analysis.[21]
An advanced sort macro is included that allows data to be arranged or categorised based on either a user generated macro or one of several default included macros.[18]
